1. Which room is the fan for? a) Bedroom: All Fantasia Fans are guaranteed to be silent, making them a popular choice for bedrooms. You may want to consider positioning the fan above the bed, or towards that end of the room, although a centrally positioned fan will still generate a cooling breeze. b) Conservatory: As conservatories tend to get hotter than the average room we recommend that you up-size to a larger fan such as a 42 52 or 54 model. Most conservatory installations will require a drop rod to lower the fan to a suitable level of operation and ensure that the slope of the ceiling does not obstruct the blades. Flush mounted fans require a conversion kit to fit a drop rod see our Technical Specifications section for more information. c) Lounge: Fantasia Fans are available in a wide variety of finishes to match most dιcor and in varying spans to suit any size lounge. Wall Lights are also available to complement many of our ceiling fan light kits. Select a room dimension from the box below to find out which size fan would suit your lounge. d) Kitchen: The kitchen can often be the hottest room in the house and a fan can serve as a welcome relief! Whether you have up-to-the-minute Stainless Steel or traditional Polished Brass fittings, there is a Fantasia Fan to suit your requirements. e) Bathroom: Unfortunately, the bathroom is the one room in the house where we do not recommend installing a ceiling fan. 2. What size is the room? a) Less than 10ft square: A 36 fan will cover an area this size. b) 10ft 12ft square: A 36 fan will cover an area this size. However, if the room is a conservatory, or south facing, then we recommend moving up to a 42 model c) 12ft 14ft square: A 42 fan can cover an area this size. However, if the room is a conservatory, or south facing, then we recommend moving up to a 52 model d) More than 14ft square: A 52 fan will cover an area up to 15ft square. If the room is particularly large, or long, then you may want to consider installing two fans one at each end of the room. 3. Do I require lights on my fan? Yes: Most Fantasia fans are light adaptable and a light can be fitted at any time. Some fans come complete with an integral light which cannot be removed or changed these are the Viper, Sigma, Orion, Phoenix, eMotion and Savannah. The Aurora is the only Fantasia fan which cannot be fitted with a light. See the Product Specifications for your chosen fan for more details. No: Most Fantasia Fans are available without lights. However, the Viper, Sigma, Orion, Phoenix and Savannah must be used with their integral light, as shown. 4. Will the fan light be the only source of light in the room? a) Yes: If the fan light will be the only source of light in the room then we do not recommend the Savannah with the Tiffany shade as the coloured glass reduces the amount of light thrown out. We would also advise you not to choose a single globe light as they only take 1 x 60-watt bulb, with the exception of the open Dome light, which takes a 100-watt bulb. Consider adding wall lights or table lamps, or choose another fan light model. b) No: If other sources of light will be used in the room then you can choose any of our fan lights. 5. How high is the ceiling? a) 7ft 6 9ft: For ceilings this height we recommend a flush mount ceiling fan b) 9ft 10ft 6: For ceilings this height we recommend a 12 drop rod. Flush mounted ceiling fans, such as the Mayfair, will require a Conversion Kit to fit a drop rod. c) 10ft 6 11ft 6: For ceilings this height we recommend an 18 drop rod. Flush mounted ceiling fans, such as the Mayfair, will require a Conversion Kit to fit a drop rod. d) 11ft 6 12ft 6: For ceilings this height we recommend a 30 drop rod. Flush mounted ceiling fans, such as the Mayfair, will require a Conversion Kit to fit a drop rod. e) 12ft 6 13ft 6: For ceilings this height we recommend a 48 rod. Flush mounted ceiling fans, such as the Mayfair, will require a Conversion Kit to fit a drop rod. f) Higher than 13ft 6: For ceilings higher than 13ft 6 we recommend a 72 rod which you can cut down to the exact size required. Flush mounted ceiling fans, such as the Mayfair, will require a Conversion Kit to fit a drop rod. NB: You can cut all Drop Rods down to the exact size required. 6. How do I want to control my fan? a) From the pull cord: For many fans, this is the standard method of control. All fans have three forward and three reverse speeds and can be fitted with either a remote control or a wall speed control. Some fans have no pull cords and must be operated by a remote or wall control see the Products section for more details b) Wall Speed Control: All Fantasia Fans can be fitted with a wall speed control from which you can operate the three speeds. Two core and earth wiring is required to fit a wall speed control. See our Wiring Diagrams section for more information. c) Wall Speed Control/Dimmer: If you have a light on your fan then you may want to consider installing a wall speed control/dimmer. The speed control will operate the three speeds and the dimmer can be used to adjust the light. Three core and earth wiring is required to fit a wall speed control/dimmer. See our Wiring Diagrams section for more information d) Remote Control: All Fantasia Fans can be fitted with a remote control. This operates the three speeds of the fan and also dims the lights. Two core and earth wiring is required to fit a remote control system. Some fans come complete with a remote control. See our Wiring Diagrams section for more information e) Dimmer Switch: We do not recommend fitting a dimmer switch to a fan as it damages the fan motor. However, it is possible to use a dimmer switch for the light. NB: The reverse function must be adjusted manually using the switch on the fan motor itself. 6. Which finish fan will suit my room? Give me some suggestions: a) Wood: You may want to consider matching the fan to other wood furniture or flooring in your room. Fantasia Fans are available in wood finishes to complement almost any fittings. b) White: White is a good choice if you would like the fan to blend in with the ceiling, rather than appear as a feature. We offer both Matt White and Gloss White options. c) Brass: If you have brass fittings in your room you may want to match these to the finish on your fan motor housing. We offer both Polished Brass and Antique Brass options. d) Stainless Steel: The Fantasia range includes fans in up-to-the-minute Stainless Steel to match with modern, hi-tech dιcor. e) Other: Fantasia Fans are available in a wide array of finishes and colours to match with almost any dιcor.
